"I wanted to make a wine that captured both the style of free spirited people, and the fun of European Bistro wines. An unpretentious but interesting wine, with complexity and good fruit. One that paired well with food, was fun to drink, and fun to share with friends. And a wine affordable enough for people to feel that they can enjoy it on a regular basis!” The Definition of Ramblin' is to do something "...Casually and just for the pleasure it." The packaging concept for Ramblin’ Wines came about because of owner Jon Ruth’s attraction to that idea. Spending a portion of his time in northwestern Montana every year since 2001 has allowed Jon to experience personally that free style kind of thinking. “I meet people of all ages in the pubs and the cafés - climbers, ski bums, backpackers, spelunkers, kayakers, back country guides and others who have managed to arrange their lives the way they want to. They have a different approach to life and I realized that most people crave to have at least a portion of that same sense of freedom. I wanted to produce a wine that reflected the style of that idea - Of just going out and doing something simply because you love doing it. Having worked with acclaimed winemaker Paul Moser in the past, Jon shared with him his purpose and his intention of starting Ramblin’ Wines. Paul was tremendously supportive and enthusiastic about it, and agreed to be consulting winemaker. The first release was Ramblin' Red Cuvee One. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, with some Zinfandel and also small portions of Merlot and Petite Verdot added for complexity. There are also plans in the future for more wines in the same tradition and price range. Ramblin' Wines is committed to making distinctive, and high quality food friendly wines. We are determined to keep our mission close to our hearts as we grow. |
